Patrick Bohan Bio

Patrick Bohan grew up in New England with an obsession of film from an early age. When Pat was a teenager, he was an avid skateboarder and began to make short videos with friends and editing the tapes via VCR. Pat obtained a job working for a movie rental store for many years during high-school and college. He also worked for Radio Shack which provided years of experience in solving a multitude of Audio/Video issues.

Patrick decided to pursue filmmaking as a career and chose to attend Fitchburg State University because of its robust hands-on technical film program. Patrick took full advantage of the communications film/video program at Fitchburg and ended up double-concentrating in both film and video production tracks. Two videos that Patrick directed in 2006 were selected by a jury to play in Visions, a selective festival of artistic work completed by Fitchburg State students. In Patrick’s senior year of college, he spent a semester in Los Angeles, California interning for both G4TV and National Geographic Films. Patrick would graduate from Fitchburg with Cum Laude honors in 2007.

Broadcast news photographer / editor

After interning in L.A., Patrick decided to return to New England and got into the wild world of broadcast news. He started out as a production assistant at ABC40 - WGGB-TV, and working up to become a full-time News Photographer, and Live Truck Operator for ABC6 News - WLNE-TV in Providence, RI.

Patrick also decided to begin his freelance career, and began operating as Pocus Video Productions filming documentaries, commercials, PSA’s, weddings, and events. He began to network in the Massachusetts film collectives and got involved in many short films, feature films, and web series as a Cinematographer and camera operator. Patrick was cinematographer for local independent films that were being produced in the Boston area, as well as other self-produced short films that would later receive recognition and awards in the film festival circuit.

Corporate video producer and podcaster

In 2011 , Patrick became a full-time corporate video producer for Staples headquarters out of Framingham, MA. He was part of a small team of producers who would create internal video messaging, global broadcasts via satellite, and also produced external-facing product videos for the Staples Brand Group.

Also in 2011 Patrick began producing audio Podcasts. Most notably JJvJR, a debate podcast amongst friends and later co-hosted his own podcast with his best friend Joe in 2014 called WAM (Wicked Awesome Movies).

In 2013, Patrick and family moved back to Western MA and began working for Valley Communications Systems as an A/V Integration Tech and made his way up to working as a foreman of many large-scale A/V projects and eventually moved into the Broadcast department where Patrick was able to utilize his vast knowledge of video production workflows to help design, install, and train clients on state of the art video production equipment. In 2016, Pat was foreman of a $1 Million broadcast control room and fiber camera system inside the University of Massachusetts Mullins Center Arena.

Wesleyan university video producer

In 2017, Patrick accepted a position at Wesleyan University where he worked as a Video Producer within University Communications. At Wesleyan, Patrick was able to introduce and innovate new creative ways of producing video, while collaborating with many departments all across campus including Admissions, Advancement, Athletics, and Social Media. In 2018, Patrick was awarded a Telly Award for his cinematography work on a project titled “Wes Actually”.

Since 2017, Patrick has been a certified FAA Part 107 Drone Pilot, in which he renews every 2 years. This certification allows Patrick to operate drones for commercial projects across the country.

In 2019, Patrick filmed his first Stop-Motion short film titled Extraction. The film was animated using legos and green screen special effects. The film was selected by Skydance Media as the grand prize winner in the Skydance Challenge.

In 2021, Patrick accepted the position of Director of the Media Creation Studio / Manager of Media Production at Saint Michaels College in Colchester, VT where Patrick continues to grow in his craft and passion for Media Production while sharing his knowledge with like-minded students within the Media Studies, Journalism, and Digital Arts program on campus. Patrick is in charge of running the brand new Media Creation Studio which is coming in 2022.
